Additional Recruitment Information:Beginning in January 2020, Utah State University (USU) undertook a competitive national recruitment and selection process to fill a Professional Practice Instructor (Medical Laboratory Technical Program) faculty position in the Department of Aviation and Technical Education at the USU Eastern Campus in Price, Utah. This position vacancy was advertised online at the following websites: (i) HigherEdJobs.com beginning 01/28/2020 and (ii) Utah State University's Human Resources Office "Careers" website for external candidates beginning 01/28/2020 and "Employees" website for internal candidates and referrals beginning 01/28/2020. In response to USU's various recruitment efforts for the Professional Practice Instructor (Medical Laboratory Technical Program) position in Price, Utah, USU received 2 applications from interested applicants. This is not surprising because the position is for a teaching position in a rural, economically disadvantaged part of the state more than an hour's drive across a mountain pass from the populous Wasatch Front. After the other applicant removed herself from consideration for the advertised position, Dr. Henock Haile was only qualified, available applicant for the position. Specifically, Dr. Henock Haile is qualified for the advertised position because he has a PhD in Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics from Anhui Medical University in China (2018), which has been determined to be "the equivalent of the U.S. degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Laboratory Science awarded by a regionally accredited college or university in the United States." In addition, Dr. Haile has: (i) a bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from Jimma University in Ethiopia (2004); (ii) far more than the required 3 years of experience in clinical laboratory work in his native Ethiopia; (iii) and many years' experience teaching and practicing medical laboratory science at the university level in Ethiopia. Dr. Haile was licensed as a Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist and a Senior Expert Medical Laboratory Technologist in Ethiopia and also certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
