为了庆祝加拿大的150岁生日，伍德兰小学将参加2017年4月4日至6日的加拿大150年大型壁画项目，以捕捉卡尔加里的精髓。伍德兰小学的8x8英尺壁画将展示和宣传卡尔加里、卡尔加里的人和景观以及卡尔加里对国家的影响。

学生、老师和受邀嘉宾将设计和绘制4x4英寸的瓷砖，描绘具有象征意义的卡尔加里图案。加拿大150年大型壁画项目的创始人刘易斯·拉瓦瓦及其团队将前来参加绘画、揭幕和庆祝活动。

退伍军人事务部长肯特·赫尔在一月份加入了伍德兰小学学生的加拿大150年庆祝活动启动仪式上发表了讲话："我们希望通过艺术、文化和科学共同庆祝。这些粘合剂让我们在不断的起起落落中保持团结。我们希望分享我们的故事，感受彼此的联系。"。

本次活动由伍德兰小学委员会和联邦政府的加拿大150年庆祝和纪念计划的拨款支持。卡尔加里壁画瓷砖的绘制将于4月4日和5日上午9:00至下午3:00进行，学生和受邀嘉宾将参与其中。

最终壁画揭幕庆祝活动将于4月6日下午2:00举行。请加入我们，共同见证令人激动的揭幕仪式，欣赏我们学生的歌舞表演，向加拿大致敬！

In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, Woodlands School will be capturing the essence of Calgary by participating in the Canada 150 Mural Mosaic Project from April 4 to 6, 2017. Woodlands School’s  8’ x 8’ mural will recognize and promote Calgary, its people, and the landscape and how Calgary continues to shape the nation. 

Students, staff and invited guests will be designing and painting 4”x 4” tiles depicting iconic Calgary.  Lewis Lavoie and his team from Canada 150 Mosaic will be attending Woodlands School for painting, unveiling and celebration. 

Veterans Affairs Minister Kent Hehr joined Woodlands School students at an announcement for the Canada 150 celebrations in January. “We want to celebrate together through arts, culture and science.  It’s the sticky stuff that keeps us together through all the ups and downs. We want to share our stories and feel connected,” Hehr said at the funding announcement.

This event has been funded by our Woodlands School Council and a grant, under the Celebration and Commemoration Program – Canada 150, from the Federal Government. Painting of the Calgary mural tiles will take place with students and invited guests on April 4 and 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day. 

The final mural unveiling celebration will take place on April 6 at 2:00 p.m.  Please join us for the exciting unveiling and the amazing performances from our students as they honour Canada with song and dance!
