On Oct. 1, CBE students walked around Olympic Plaza in support of residential school survivors and to show that Every Child Matters.

On Oct. 1, CBE students walked around Olympic Plaza in support of residential school survivors and to show that Every Child Matters. The event was put on by The Society for Safe and Caring Schools at Calgary City Hall in partnership with the City of Calgary, Calgary Public Library, Calgary Board of Education, and the Calgary Catholic School District. Following the walk students heard from several speakers including Chief Lee Crowchild and residential school survivor Steve Saddleback.

Orange Shirt Day is an opportunity for all people to come together in the spirit of reconciliation. Orange Shirt day began in 2013 when residential school survivor, Phyllis Webstad, shared how her orange shirt was taken away on her first day at a residential school.
