国际教育周（IEW）是全球100多个国家每年11月庆祝的活动。今年，IEW将于2019年11月18日至22日期间举行。

International Education Week (IEW) is celebrated each November by over 100 countries around the world. This year, IEW takes place from Nov. 18 – 22, 2019.

During this week, many organizations including the CBE, celebrate the diversity and innovation experienced in programs that offer international opportunities. IEW draws attention to the myriad of activities undertaken by individual schools, colleges, associations, and businesses around the world, designed to promote the value and significance of language skills and global learning. These activities range from student and teacher exchange programs to international school partnerships, from agreements with foreign governments to language learning programs.

In all cases, institutions and organizations seek to promote international education opportunities, and the educational benefits of cross-cultural contact. . Alberta Education has participated in IEW since 2006 and they encourage Alberta schools to participate through different activities including food tasting and multicultural explorations.

In keeping with the core values of IEW along with a Canada-wide strategy supported by Global Affairs Canada and Alberta Education’s International Strategy, the Calgary Board of Education opens its doors to students from around the world. These students participate in a variety of educational programs across the city. The benefits of participation for both local and international students are vast and include an improved understanding of varied cultures and ways of living, a more meaningful knowledge of international politics and world affairs, greater richness of academic experiences, and the building of economic relationships. International students have indicated that their experiences in Calgary have been incredible; their stories are shared on the CBE International website.
