What If I ​​Do Not Reply?

If you do not respond, you will not receive any SMS messages (general, commercial, or emergency) from your school. 

What If I Have Prev​​iously Opted In?

The SMS number our messages are sent from is changing, so even if you’ve opted in before, you must opt in again to be able to receive any SMS messages from your school. 

Why Is This Chan​​ging?

Based on feedback from parents we are now sending all SchoolMessenger email, phone, and SMS messages from within Canada to provide the best possible protection for our student and parent data. The Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association oversees text messaging in Canada, and requires us to get your permission before we can send you SMS messages from our new number.

Schools may send out additional information by email and SMS for their commercial activities on topics such as school fees, field trip costs, book sales, picture days and more. To receive this content, you must subscribe at www.cbe.ab.ca/subscribe​ using the email address you have on file with your school. It only takes a few seconds to ensure that you don’t miss any important information from your school.

Not all schools send text messages, but opting in will ensure that you receive any messages that they do send. There is no extra cost to receive SMS messages from the CBE, but standard message rates and data charges from your carrier may apply when you receive messages from us.
