CBE's two newest schools, Prairie Sky School and North Trail High School celebrated their schools’ cultures, identities and strong school communities during official opening ceremonies last month. The events featured speeches and student performances showcasing their work and school spirit, as well as the traditional ringing of the school bell.
Prairie Sky School, which serves the Skyview Ranch community, is a kindergarten to Grade 9 school that opened in April 2023. Meanwhile, North Trail High School, located in Coventry Hills, serves the communities of Coventry Hills, Country Hills, Country Hills Village, Harvest Hills, Panorama Hills, and Hidden Valley. North Trail High School opened in September 2023.
Official Opening Celebrations generally occur in the spring to enable the school community time to build relationships and a strong school identity. They mark an exciting milestone for the new schools and their communities, bringing together all of the partners, community members, and CBE staff involved in the school design and construction. The events were attended by dignitaries including CBE trustees, provincial MLAs and Ministers for Education, Infrastructure and Immigration and Multiculturalism, city councillors and CBE senior leaders.
Like every CBE school, the new schools are designed to provide an excellent educational experience to students. While Alberta Infrastructure and selected project managers managed the construction of each building, many CBE staff members ensured that the schools were ready to welcome students when construction was completed.
