制定教学日历的指导方针基于当前立法、省级考试和反馈意见。日历包括至少181个教学日和10个校区范围内的日子供学校安排家长-教师会议、专业发展以及其他组织日使用。

CBE确实考虑了在劳动节长周末后开始上学的反馈意见。但是，由于加入秋假以及一月份的文凭考试时间安排（由Alberta Education设定），无法满足最低教学日数并在整个学年平衡高中学期。在劳动节之前开始上学并不是什么新鲜事。CBE在过去的四年里都在劳动节前开始上课。

2025-26年的暂定日历也已发布，但可能会更改。

The first day of school for students is:

Guidelines used to inform the creation of instructional calendars are based on current legislation, provincial examinations and feedback. The calendars include a minimum of 181 instructional days and 10 system-wide days for schools to schedule parent-teacher conferences, professional development, and other organizational days.

CBE did consider the feedback to start school after the Labour Day long weekend. However, with the addition of the fall break and timing of January diploma exam schedules (set by Alberta Education) it was not possible to meet the minimum number of instructional days and balance semesters in high school across the school year. Starting school before Labour Day is not new. CBE has started classes before Labour Day for the last four years.

A tentative calendar for 2025-26​ has also been posted and is subject to change.
