The Calgary Board of Education has once again welcomed a record number of students for the 2016-17 school year.

官方9月30日的统计数据显示,总学生人数为119,147人,比去年同期的116,985人增加了2,162人。这些数据包括Chinook Learning Services和CBe-learn的学生。

  • 在家自修是为希望在子女教育中发挥主要作用的家庭提供服务的学生服务。
  • 卡尔加里教育局运营四个外展项目,如Discovering Choices,为找不到适合自己需求的常规校园项目和服务的学生提供服务。
  • 特殊设置包括Emily Follensbee和Christine Meikle等学校,为学习需要多样且复杂的学生提供教育课程。
  • 卡尔加里教育局的其他特殊设置包括AADAC、Children’s Village、Dr. Gordon Townsend、Dr. Oakley、Nexus/Trust Treatment/Project Trust、West View Secondary、William Roper Hull和Young Adult Program。这些设置为具有特殊学习需求且受到特殊情况影响的学生提供教育机会。

The Calgary Board of Education has once again welcomed a record number of students for the 2016-17 school year.

The official September 30 count showed that total student enrolment was 119,147 — up 2,162 from 116,985 on the same date last year. This data includes Chinook Learning Services and CBe-learn students.

“We are proud to welcome so many new and diverse students to the Calgary Board of Education. This is an exciting time for our system with the opening of our new schools. We are pleased to have over 2,100 new students from kindergarten to our adult services choose the CBE this year,” says Joy Bowen-Eyre, Chair CBE Board of Trustees.

The most significant increase was in students in Grades 4-6 (1,273 students).

Definitions

  • Homeschooling serves students whose families wish to have a primary role in their education.
  • The CBE operates four outreach programs, such as Discovering Choices, for students who find that regular school programs and services do not meet their needs.
  • Unique settings include schools like Emily Follensbee and Christine Meikle, which provide educational programming for students who have multiple and complex learning needs.
  • Other unique settings within the CBE include AADAC, Children’s Village, Dr. Gordon Townsend, Dr. Oakley, Nexus/Trust Treatment/Project Trust, West View Secondary, William Roper Hull, and the Young Adult Program. These settings provide educational opportunities for students with unique learning needs which are impacted by extenuating factors.
  • CBe-learn deliver online programming for junior and senior high students, as well as multiple levels of support for homeschooling. CBe-learn is located at the Career and Technology Centre at Lord Shaughnessy High School.
  • Chinook Learning Services (CLS) provides High School Upgrading programs.
    In addition, CLS provides Academic Success Programs including Summer School for Grades 10-12, Off-Campus Programs (work experience), International School Programs (student groups and individual international students over 18 years of age) and Summer Band Programs. Adult English Language Learning and non-credit Continuing Education (professional & personal development) are also provided.

The 2016-17 School Enrolment Report will be presented in late November to the Board of Trustees and it will contain more detailed information about the number of students in each school by grade and program.
