Noah Wings (Wolf)

Noah Wings (Wolf)

Forest Lawn High School student Noah Wings (Wolf) is a rodeo star! Noah went to Las Vegas, NV from Nov. 8 -12 to compete in the 41st annual Indian National Finals Rodeo (INFR). Noah is from the Blood Reserve and has been competing in rodeos for just over three years. His final average in Las Vegas was 145 points, just 72 points shy of the World Champion. Noah is currently ranked third in the world in the Junior Bulls division.

The INFR recognizes the importance of education in their mission statement and offers many scholarships for post-secondary education. The organization is also very strict with the junior competitors and Noah had to submit his mid-term report card to demonstrate passing grades in all classes. In stressing the importance of education to young competitors it helps motivate them to be successful in school and look to the possible future opportunities provided by the INFR. Rodeo has deep roots in the Aboriginal culture and the INFR promotes a generational connection to this tradition by hosting events for competitors from 8 to 80.

The sport of rodeo helps Noah to connect to his culture and to his learning. The school and community are so proud of Noah and will be rooting for him as he continues to compete in rodeos throughout the year.
