在2016年11月30日，Panorama Hills School社区庆祝了奥利弗·哈密尔顿成为卡尔加里市2016年度少年消防长的新任命。在每年的消防周期间，卡尔加里市消防部门会委任一位少年消防长，担任其同龄人的消防安全大使。

奥利弗是亚伯达儿童医院的一位九岁患者，同时也是Panorama Hills School的四年级学生。他于今年十月被任命为2016年度少年消防长。奥利弗最初是在医院工作人员基于他的沟通能力、领导才能和对消防安全的兴趣进行提名的，然后由卡尔加里市消防部门选择。

​On Nov. 30, 2016, Panorama Hills School community celebrated Oliver Hamilton’s new designation as Calgary’s 2016 Junior Fire Chief. Each year during Fire Prevention Week, the Calgary Fire Department appoints a Junior Fire Chief to act as a fire safety ambassador for his or her peers.

Oliver is a nine-year old patient at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, and a Grade 4 student at Panorama Hills School. He was named the 2016 Junior Fire Chief in October. Oliver was first nominated by hospital staff based on his communication skills, leadership and interest in fire safety and then chosen by the City of Calgary Fire Department.

Oliver’s duties have already included promoting this year’s Fire Prevention Week theme, Don’t Wait – Check the Date by encouraging his friends and fellow students at Panorama Hills School to help their families replace smoke alarms every 10 years. This message was shared at our assembly on Nov. 30, 2016 along with other important fire safety messages. Community Officer Derek Arthurs has supported Oliver in his transition to this new role. We are super excited to have Oliver share his safety messages to students all year long and look forward to hearing all about Oliver’s travels throughout the city.
